I am currently working with Castlebridge Consultancy and Rockwell Business Solutions to provide Irish Water with an Information Governance Framework to build an information management and technical foundation to create a M365 and Migration deployment.

I wrote GÉANT’s Information and Data Strategy and delivered the information management foundations for the M365 proof of concepts for a single integrated intranet and document management solution. This includes linking an information asset register to the business functions file plan structure and embedding it within the M365 document libraries and automating retention scheduling and metadata tagging. A business case has been approved for the enterprise deployment of a M365 Intranet and document management solution underpinned by best practice information management and I am currently implementing the solution with the Project team. This includes a large migration of documents into the M365 document libraries.

I am currently working with Rockwell Business Solutions supporting Our Footprints, a UK SME delivering Global projects in the Renewable Energy Sector. We are reviewing the way they use Microsoft 365 and making recommendations on improvements to the way they use and manage their information and the technical architecture within the product.

I worked with LTD in offering a short-term Data Protection Subject Access Request redaction service covering Children Services Historic cases for a UK local authority.

I carried out a data protection audit with Eterna Lighting, part of the Steeple Group. It included a gap analysis and recommendations.

I wrote Birmingham City University’s data and information strategy, defined the data governance framework, developed the detailed implementation programme, and then helped recruit for some of their data gaps.

With Bluebox Aviation Systems, I gave data protection guidance on their data processor responsibilities to one of their overseas clients and gave guidance on potential impact of Singapore, India, and California privacy laws on their current practices.

Previous Work

I previously worked at Jisc. I was head of Information, Data and Analytics Service and the data protection officer, delivering the Jisc Digital, Information and Data Strategy and implementing an information and data-centric culture transformation. I managed various teams including the information management (M365) team, data management and governance, the enterprise data warehouse and analytics, data protection and compliance and information security. Work included the deployment of Teams as the SharePoint front end to the company, implementing automated document retention, the creation and deployment of the new intranet using SharePoint and assisting the M365 architect with the setting up of Microsoft Purview to manage the system. I established the data governance team who worked to implement the data governance framework; delivered the UK GDPR to Jisc and supported the HE and FE sector; and worked with the data warehouse team to establish an enterprise wide approach to business intelligence.

At Dorset County Council I lead and managed the development of a corporate-wide information and knowledge management service that included the implementation of an integrated Microsoft SharePoint intranet and document management system.
